Nip and Tuck

The expanding scope of the Dominion War meant that Starfleet had to muster as many combat capable ships as possible. Assigned to protect the Starbase at Exian Prime, this particular trio of vessels were among the countless hastily refitted/revived ships by the SCE and elsewhere. The USS Ferina (Spokane Class) had her entire main computer replaced for increased automation and her weapon banks were upgraded to "Yamato-lite" specification. A similar arrangement was also made for the USS Garuda (Centaur Class), she also received increased armor plating to her nacelles. The relatively newer USS Laramie (Cheyenne Class) was the most capable of the lot with Type X phasers and provisions for Quantum Torpedoes.
