Unreasonable Force

"It's not desperation, it's hope..."

The Battle of Khesta (2377) was a major engagement between a wayward Borg Cube and the Cardassian 8th Order, under Gul Juval. At the time, the majority of CU forces were under Gul Kentar's control. Engaged in a haphazard campaign against Chancellor Martok. Initial reports of a Borg presence in Cardassian territory became apparent when the Khesta Mining Colony was utterly decimated. With a significant portion of the planetoid reduced to rubble.

Significantly alarming was the fact that Khesta was a mere 15 Lightyears from Cardassia Prime. Mustering the might of the 8th Order and several allied vessels, Gul Juval oversaw a three hour running battle across the dense nebula clouds. As the fighting took a turn for the worse, Juval personally led a last ditch attack using several Dreadnought Missiles.

Needless to say, his sacrifice was met with success. Completely disabling the Cube and sparing the remaining fifteen vessels from being destroyed or assimilated. By the time Kentar's forces had arrived, the remnants of the 8th Order were already picking up the pieces. A brief ceremony for the fallen was held shortly after. This was followed by a three day cease fire with the Klingon Empire.
