Shorebirds '67

The Osean Navy's VF-206 "Shorebirds" transitioned to the F-4B Phantom II in 1961. It proved to be an effective fighter/interceptor, serving the squadron for fifteen years. A considerable payload, long range and advanced avionics made it ideal for intercepting Yuktobanian bombers and fighters. Naval aviators generally praised the airframe, but its heavy reliance on AAM's proved to be a weakness. Its lack of an internal cannon was later rectified with a gun pod.
