Description
"Looks like a damn paper airplane to me."
- Adm. Thomas Benson, EN
The A-12 Avenger II was the Osean Navy's first attempt in acquiring a VLO aircraft tailored to its specifications. Intended to replace the aging A-6, the A-12 utilized a flying wing airframe, akin to an isosceles triangle. The Avenger II was set to carry precision guided weapons and even air-to-air missiles in its internal bay. Although its planned capabilities were impressive, the Avenger II would be forcibly cancelled in 1988 due to cost overruns and several delays.
During the A-12's development, Emmeria showed great interest in the type. Their Navy was in a similar predicament with aging naval strike aircraft. Had the project continued, the Emmerian Navy would have ordered twenty airframes - painted in a drab stealth scheme.
